Dr. Salas is a neonatologist. He completed his second pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a neonatology fellowship at UAB. He manages our team and makes sure all our backgrounds work together to help support your baby's nutrition goals.
Dr. Shukla is a neonatologist. He graduated from PS Medical College and completed his residency at SUNY. With broad experience in neonatal care and clinical research, he provides extensive knowledge to our team.
Dr. Razzaghy is a board-certified pediatrician and a neonatal fellow. She attended the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her residency in Greenvale Health System.
Maggie is our research dietitian and a graduate student in a PhD Nutrition Program. As a part of her dietetic internship, Maggie completed the Baylor College of Medicine Neonatal Nutrition Fellowship.
Dr. Cyrus earned her Medical Degree at Louisiana State University - New Orleans. She is interested in studying alternative methods to assess body composition in preterm infants
Audrey is our research nurse coordinator. She is responsible for the day-to-day research activities including screening, recruitment, data collection, sample processing, and others
Kelly is an undergraduate student. She provides assistance with day-to-day research activities including screening, recruitment, data collection, sample processing, and others
Mary Margaret is a graduate student. She assists with data collection and coordinates/performs body composition measurements
Dr. Gunawan is an MSPH graduate student. She assists with data curation and data analysis
Our research team aims to improve quantitative and qualitative outcomes of growth in premature babies
We have developed multiple feeding protocols to improve nutrition practices in premature babies
We have also made substantial contributions to facilitate the transition from tube to oral feeding in premature babies. We instrumented a feeding bottle to assess nutritive sucking patterns (number of sucks, sucking strength, sucking density, and bottle orientation)
